| Does Research Support Bible Truths? The Bible is held to be an authority in all matters. 16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work. (2Timothy 3:16-17) (NWT) Is it wise to put blind faith in the Bible or look at the book as Inspired by God or a man-made publication subject to errors? "OVER 550 years ago, the German inventor Johannes Gutenberg began printing with movable type. The first major book to come off his press was a Bible.* Since then, billions upon billions of books on every subject imaginable have been printed. The Bible, however, is by far the most exceptional of them all. It is estimated that more than 4.7 billion Bibles (in whole or in part) have been printed. That is more than five times the number of copies of the next most widely distributed publication, Quotations From Chairman Mao. More than 50 million copies of the Bible or portions of it were distributed recently in one year alone. "The Bible is the best- selling book of the year, every year," says a report in The New Yorker magazine. In whole or in part, the Bible has been translated into more than 2,400 languages. At least some of the Bible is available in the languages spoken by over 90 percent of the human family. About half the Bible writers finished their writings before the birth of both Confucius, the renowned Chinese sage, and Siddhārtha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism. The Bible has had a profound influence on the arts, including some of the world’s greatest paintings, music, and literature. The Bible has endured bans by governments, burnings by religious opposers, and attacks by critics. No other book in history has faced greater opposition—and survived. The above-mentioned facts are outstanding, are they not? Of course, impressive details and statistics alone do not prove that the Bible is trustworthy." From: "Can You Trust the Bible?" http://www.watchtower.org/e/200711/article_02.htm Awake! 2007 How can we prove that the Bible is trustworthy? 10 Immediately by night the brothers sent both Paul and Silas out to Be·roe´a, and these, upon arriving, went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·ni´ca, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so. (Acts 17:10-11) (NWT) 21 Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine. (1Thessalonians 5:21) (NWT) 7 But turn down the false stories which violate what is holy and which old women tell. (1Timothy 4:7) (NWT) Personal research can unearth facts that help support Bible truths. Such as... "The cross is one of the most recognizable religious symbols known to man. Millions revere it, considering it to be the sacred instrument on which Jesus was put to death. Roman Catholic writer and archaeologist Adolphe- Napoleon Didron stated: "The cross has received a worship similar, if not equal, to that of Christ; this sacred wood is adored almost equally with God Himself." From: "Did Jesus Die On a Cross?" http://www.watchtower.org/e/200604a/article_01.htm Awake 2006 The cross is is sacred to most Christians because it is mentioned in most Bible translations. Did Christ actually die on a cross? "Another... tradition of the Church which our fathers have inherited, was the adoption of the words 'cross' and 'crucify'. These words are nowhere to be found in the Greek of the New Testament." -Koster, C.J. Come Out of Her My People. p. 29 Johannesburg, RSA: Institute for Scripture Research, 1998. To designate the instrument of Christ's death, John used the Greek word "stawros". (John 19:17, 19, 25) In classical Greek, ‘stawros' or ‘stauros’ denotes the same thing that it does in the common Greek of the Christian Scriptures - primarily an upright stake or pole with no crossbar. 'stauros': "Literally an upright stake, pale, or pole... As an instrument of execution." -The Interpreter's Dictionary of the Bible "The Greek... 'stauros', properly signified a stake, an upright pole, or piece of paling, on which anything might be hung, or which might be used in impaling [fencing in] a piece of ground. Even amongst the Romans the crux (from which our cross is derived) appears to have been originally an upright pole, and this always remained the more prominent part." -The Imperial Bible Dictionary. What about the widespread and popular belief that Christ was born December 25th? The night of Jesus' birth has become famous as the basis for Nativity scenes. However, the real story is quite different from the one so often depicted. Historian Luke, who tells us of the census that brought Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem, also tells us of the shepherds' spending that important night out-of-doors with their flocks. These two circumstances have led many Bible researchers to conclude that Jesus could not have been born during December. They point out the unlikelihood of Caesar's forcing the volatile Jews to trek to their home cities during the cold and rainy season, which could further enrage a rebellious people. It is equally unlikely, scholars note, that shepherds would have been living out-of-doors with their flocks in such inclement weather.— Luke 2:8-14. From: "Jesus' Birth - the Real Story" From: http://www.watchtower.org/e/19981215/article_02.htm Watchtower December 15, 1998 Do secular people take the Bible seriously in their research? "The significance and joy in my science comes in the occasional moments of discovering something new and saying to myself, ‘So that’s how God did it!’" —HENRY SCHAEFER, PROFESSOR OF CHEMISTRY. From: "Are Science and the Bible Compatible?" http://www.watchtower.org/e/201102c/article_01.htm Awake! February 2011 The Bible is a very important book in our lives but blind faith in the Bible can lead to many false conclusions. How many Bible-based religions are there? According to the site, http://www.adherents.com/ 33,830 Christian denominations. Each one of them claims to worship God and follow Christ. Does the Bible say that there are supposed to be a myriad of denominations? "…one Lord, one faith, one baptism." (Ephesians 4:5) (New International Version) And who is the Lord we should be worshiping? 5 I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. With the exception of me there is no God. I shall closely gird you, although you have not known me, 6 in order that people may know from the rising of the sun and from its setting that there is none besides me. I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. (Isaiah 45:5,6) (NWT) Is there a people who worship Jehovah? 23 "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24) (NIV) And, who will be Jehovah's worshipers? 10 "YOU are my WITNESSES," is the utterance of Jehovah, "even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that YOU may know and have faith in me, and that YOU may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none. 11 I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior." 12 "I myself have told forth and have saved and have caused [it] to be heard, when there was among YOU no strange [god]. So YOU are my WITNESSES," is the utterance of Jehovah, "and I am God." (Isaiah 43:10-12) (NWT) | | |
| God Bless America? Most Americans and many people around the world regard the USA as a fine country, even “The Land of Opportunity”. Logically, it would seem as if God favors the USA by the way the country has apparently been blessed in the past by so many good fortunes. Historically, the country went from being an unimportant colony of Great Britain in the early 1500’s to becoming a world power less than 500 years later due mostly to an abundance of natural resources and “Yankee ingenuity”. God is widely worshiped by the citizens of this country, so it makes sense that God must have given His blessing to this land a long time ago. The citizens of this country seriously consider America to be truly blessed by God. Is it true that God favors the USA over all of the others? Does God favor any country? What does the Bible say? 16 Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. 17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, "It is done!" 18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. 19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. 21 From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible. (Revelation 16:16-21) (New International Version) This does not appear good for our country or for any other country. What will happen next? 11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. 17And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, "Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and mighty men, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, small and great." 19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. (Revelation 19:11-19) (NIV) 1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth from it. 2 For Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. 3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. (Isaiah 34:1-8) (American Standard Version) 21 And I will set my glory among the nations; and all the nations shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. (Ezekiel 39:21-24) (ASV) 44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever." (Daniel 2:44) (NIV) 1 Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision. 8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10 Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him. (Psalm 2:1-4, 8-12) (ASV) 26 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One. (Acts 4:26) (NIV) 2 Jehovah will send forth the rod of thy strength out of Zion: Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. 4 Jehovah hath sworn, and will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek. 5 The Lord at thy right hand will strike through kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He will judge among the nations, He will fill the places with dead bodies; He will strike through the head in many countries. (Psalm 110:2-6) (ASV) 26 And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth… 29 For, lo, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith Jehovah of hosts. 31 A noise shall come even to the end of the earth; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh: as for the wicked, he will give them to the sword, saith Jehovah. 32 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great tempest shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth. 33 And the slain of Jehovah shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the face of the ground. (Jeremiah 25:26,29,31,32,33) (ASV) This does not look good for the USA either. These prophecies indicate that all of the countries of the world – every “kingdom” will be utterly destroyed. The rulers, the armies, the political elements and the people in office will all be annihilated. Why? After centuries of inept, apathetic and corrupt rule by kings, dictators, and other assorted rulers, Jehovah intends to take over rulership of the earth with His Son as our King!
4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4) (NIV) This was prophesied long before Christ was even born: 17 "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind." (Isaiah 65:17) (NIV) So, what would be the wise thing for us to do now? 2 Serve Jehovah with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that Jehovah, he is God: It is he that hath made us, and we are his; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Give thanks unto him, and bless his name. 5 For Jehovah is good; his lovingkindness endureth for ever, And his faithfulness unto all generations. (Psalms 100:2-6) (ASV)
| The Lord’s Prayer
The Bible has many prayers in it. The Lord’s Prayer is an example that our Saviour gave us. Most people have a vague idea of what the words mean, but often people memorize it and repeat it in prayer mechanically. Is this the best or only way to pray to our Heavenly Father? Christendom, especially Catholicism, promotes the idea that mindless repetition of the Lord’s Prayer is the accepted way to pray to their nameless lord. And that is exactly what they do. This is not really what Jehovah wants from us. We need to pray to our Heavenly Father, but not repetitiously. After all, how would we like it if people came up to us and muttered the same phrases to us over and over? People would not conceive of talking to other people like a "broken record", so why do people treat The God who created the universe as if He would like to hear monotonous repetition? Christ never taught that: “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” (Matthew 6:7) (King James Version) People around the world love to pray repetitiously to their false gods, so we should want to avoid being like them. When Christ gave us the “Lord’s prayer”, he made it plain that it was a guide to go by: “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” (Matthew 6:8) (King James Version) But what does this prayer mean? What are we actually praying for? “Our Father, who art (who is) in Heaven” is Jehovah, not a “nameless LORD”. It would be wise to call upon Him with His name so that there is no question about whom we are praying to. As the Apostle Paul once said: “5 According to some people, there are many so-called gods and many lords, both in heaven and on earth. 6 But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we exist for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life.” (1 Corinthians 8:5-6) (New Living Translation) “Hallowed be thy name” means, “your name is sacred.” “Your kingdom come” means, “may your kingdom come”. What kingdom? The end of this “system” is almost here and we will be ruled by Jehovah’s kingdom after all of the earthly governments are crushed. We pray for His kingdom to come for our deliverance from injustice and oppression by our current earthly governments. “Thy will be done” means “may your will be done “on earth as it is in Heaven”. Jehovah’s will is not being done by everyone here on the earth now. That will change soon! “Give us this day our daily bread” is a prayer that most of the world prays daily, even by non-Christians due to widespread famine and food shortages. Only Jehovah promises to answer our prayer for our daily bread: 25 "So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are.” (Matthew 6:25-26) (New Living Translation) “And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors” is a prayer for forgiveness of sins. “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” is a prayer to help us stay on the narrow path to everlasting life. “For thine (yours) is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever.” For the time being, earthly rulers seek some kind of kingdom, power and glory for themselves. This too will change soon. Amen According to the online Encyclopedia Wikipedia: Amun (also spelled Amon, Amoun, Amen, and rarely Imen, Greek Ἄμμων Ammon, and Ἅμμων Hammon, reconstructed Egyptian Yamānu) was the name of a deity, in Egyptian mythology, who gradually rose to become one of the most important deities in Ancient Egypt, before fading into obscurity. From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amun (Matthew 6:9-13) (King James Version) Since this is a guide to go by, it is not proper to memorize this prayer and pray it daily. Instead, it is much better to pray daily to Jehovah as if He were a person, like we are, because He is! Tell Him your desires, thoughts and be sure to thank Him for the blessings He bestows upon us. Always pray to Jehovah in Christ’s name because he said:
”If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:14) (New Living Translation) Christ never told his followers to pray to him, but people tend to do that. Remember the first commandment and pray to Jehovah through his son and we will be worshiping Jehovah in the manner that He prefers. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:3) (KJV) What else does Jehovah require of us? Stop ending prayers with the name of an Egyptian god. It is just another ploy by the Catholic church to insert pagan gods and other pagan practices into Christianity.
| They Don't Want to Hear it! The Bible has an enormous amount of valuable information in it. Some of the information is historical, some is anecdotal but there is a large amount of prophecy and wisdom that is so important we would be foolish to ignore it. But many people do!
How can people ignore the wisdom of the Bible? Many people consider the Bible to be a book of dead history. First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised?" By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. (2Peter 3:3,4,7) (New International Version) On the other hand, there are people who love and cherish SOME of the Bible's wisdom. They pick and choose what they want from the Bible. If they see or hear something that is unpleasant or disagreeable, they ignore it as if it weren't even written there. "But you shall speak My words to them whether they listen or not..." (Ezekiel 2:7) (New American Standard Bible) The words written in the Bible came from God. Not just any God but Jehovah God. Jehovah had His many prophets write the words in the Bible for a purpose. That is because every word that Jehovah utters has a purpose. 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10-11) (NIV) "...I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please." (Isaiah 46:9,10) (NIV) The Bible, indeed, has many words of encouragement and comfort but it also has numerous warnings for us to heed. "...the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying... give them warning from me. " (Ezekiel 3:16,17) (American Standard Version)
Picking and Choosing Many members of Christendom only want to hear scriptures that please them. They do not want to hear "ALL" that God or His Son said. Many pick and choose the scriptures to soothe them and make them feel comfortable and complacent. When other scriptures are presented to them - ones that require action on their part or suggest that a change is needed - they often get angry and quickly reject both the scripture and the source. But Who Are They Hurting? Only Themselves! Why? The answer is simple - by refusing to listen to scriptures where Christ or his Father gives a warning, the reader has instantly rejected not only Christ's message but also the originator of that message - our Heavenly Father, Jehovah God. Jesus Said - "...anyone who says 'No' to me is really saying 'No' - to the one who sent me." (Luke 10:16) (Contemporary English Version) "...if you don't accept the trustworthiness of the One who commanded my words and acts, none of it matters. That is who you are questioning -not me but the One who sent me." (John 8:28) (Message Bible) Jesus said - "There is a lot more I could say to condemn you. But the one who sent me is truthful, and I tell the people of this world only what I have heard from him." (John 8:26) (CEV)
Rejecting the warning scriptures and only clinging to pleasanter ones will not stop Jehovah's plans from happening. Yes, whether they like it or not, a world-wide warning has been given and the outcome, as given, will truly happen, whether they listen or not. What Warning Scriptures? "In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead." (Acts 17:30,31) (NIV) Many people say, "Judge the world? But my minister says God loves us just as we are!" Is that really so? 9Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, 10thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers--none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God. (1Corinthians 6:9-10) (NIV) "...he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;" (2Peter 2:6) (NIV) Our Messiah issued some serious Warnings. "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age." (Matthew 13:40) (NIV) "I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!" (Luke 12:49) (NIV) "But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed." (Luke 17:29-30) (NIV) "I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you." (Matthew 11:24) (NIV) But The Messiah was not the only one... "Just a little while longer, and the wicked ones will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the earth and enjoy great peace." (Psalm 37: 10,11) (NIV) "For the upright shall dwell in the earth, and the righteous shall remain in it. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the treacherous shall be rooted out of it." (Proverbs 2:21,22) (NIV) 17 You make God tired with all your talk. "How do we tire him out?" you ask. By saying, "God loves sinners and sin alike. God loves all." And also by saying, "Judgment? God's too nice to judge." (Malachi 2:17) (Message Bible) "...This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with ever- lasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified." (2Thessalonians 1:7-10) (NIV) "...And you will destroy all who have caused destruction on the earth." (Revelation 11:18) (New Livinig Translation) This is fair warning for those who blithely believe that "God and Jesus loves all of us just as we are!" How bad will it be? “And those slain by Jehovah will certainly come to be in that day from one end of the earth clear to the other end of the earth. They will not be bewailed, neither will they be gathered up or be buried. As manure on the surface of the ground they will become.” (Jeremiah 25:33) (Young's Literal Translation) Along with the warnings come blessings for the righteous. "Happy are the meek and mild for they will inherit the earth." (Matthew 5:5) (Amplified Bible) "We are looking for what God has promised, which are new heavens and a new earth. Only what is right and good will be there." (2Peter 3:13) (New Life Version)
| OPENING THE DOOR TO A PEACEFUL NEW WORLD
Some people have read the Bible extensively enough to believe that the “World as we now know it” will come to an end. Understandably, they may look upon the warnings in the Bible as being ominous and negative, when in truth - the very opposite is true. Yes, God wants us to look upon the culmination of our world as we know it - to be a sign that He really cares about us. The fact that God is going to step in and bring an end to all human suffering is surely not a bad thing - but truly a wonderful thing. Indeed, the daily news reports human suffering daily around the world. As the end approaches, we should leap for joy; that our Grand Creator, Jehovah, truly cares about mankind. He is not going to allow the evils on the earth to go on indefinitely. NO - He is going to bring an end to all evil, all calamities, and all suffering on the earth and soon! He will replace this evil "age" or "system" with a new one - with His Son as ruler of the entire earth. Justice will be for all of mankind and there will finally be equality for all, peace will be worldwide and there will be grand blessings for everyone on the earth. THE END OF EVERYTHING BAD The Bible has numerous scriptures throughout that point to a day in our future: "...Understand that this vision has to do with the time of the end... I want to tell you what is going to happen... for there is going to be an end to all this." (Daniel 8:17,19) (Message Bible) "...And you will destroy all who have caused destruction on the earth." (Revelation 11:18) (New Living Translation) "For the ruthless will come to an end and... all who are intent on doing evil will be cut off. " (Isaiah 29:20) (New American Standard Bible) "...bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure." (Psalm 7:9) (New International Version) "...the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, And the treacherous shall be "ROOTED OUT" of it." (Proverbs 2:21,22) (NIV) "The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will "WEED OUT" of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil." (Matthew 13:36-41) (NIV) "...I will bring an end to all the crying..." (Isaiah 21:2) (New Living Version) "...For the outward form of this world; the present world order is passing away." (1Corinthians 7:31) (Amplified Bible) "The world is passing away..." (1John 2:17) (NASB) "...for an end will still come at the appointed time. " (Daniel 11:27) (NLT) "...the leaders and rulers of this age, who are being brought to nothing and are doomed to pass away. " (1Corinthians 2:6) (AMP) "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever." (Daniel 2:44) (NIV) These prophecies were written thousands of years ago. What is taking so long? 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. 11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. 14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. (2 Peter 3:9-15) (NIV) "...They've made a career of opposing God, and have gotten mighty good at it. But God is fed up, ready to put an end to it." (1Thessalonians 2:16) (MSG) THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING GOOD When all of the evil has been wiped out, it will be safe to live on the earth again - forever. "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind." (Isaiah 65:17) (NIV) "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith Jehovah, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith Jehovah. And they shall go forth, and look upon the dead bodies of the men that have transgressed against me..." (Isaiah 66:22-24) (ASV) "But the meek in the end shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Then the consistently righteous shall inherit the earth and dwell upon it forever." (Psalm 37:11,29) (AMP) Christ, himself promised us this: “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5) (King James Version) And he is not the only one: "Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked are cut off you shall see it." (Psalm 37:34) (ASV) "Jesus will rule the earth... His Kingdom will be worldwide... There will be peace... There will be a healing of infirmities and a freedom from disease" - Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy, pg. 656-658; J. Barton Payne "THEN I saw a new heaven and a new earth... Then I heard a mighty voice from the throne... saying, See! The abode of God is with men, and He will live among them; and they shall be His people, and God shall personally be with them and be their God. God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away." (Rev. 21:1,3,4) (AMP)
